VP Engineering

The VP of Engineering provides tactical direction and overall management of multiple technical project (development) teams in support of the creation and on-going maintenance of RadarFind products. This position will direct the daily activities of Director-level department heads for each of the technical specialties of hardware, firmware, and software.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages the day to day activities of multiple technical teams.
• Manages the application, hardware, and firmware engineering teams in working effectively and efficiently to meet project goals.
  
• Facilitates the creation of reliable project schedules and resource requirement projections.
• Participates in business case review and validation.
• Participates in the review of and insures adequate analysis of pre-construction deliverables including requirements, specifications and technical designs.
• Works collaboratively with Supply Chain manager to insure cost effective and just-in-time ordering.
• Defines and implements cost-effective development processes.
  
• Defines and implements cost-effective development organizational hierarchy.
• Coordinates the evolution of technical designs and code components to support detailed specifications and functional/non-functional requirements.
• Participates in the creation of end to end architecture, technical designs, code components and coding standards for enterprise-scalable web applications.
• Facilitates and directly participates in periodic code reviews as needed to insure high quality deliverables.
• Facilitates end-to-end unit and integration testing and test-driven development.
• Participates in recruitment and selection of team members/technical staff.
• Coaches and provides direction to team members and conducts ongoing and annual performance evaluation.
• Facilitates resolution of critical issues referred by internal implementation, support and quality teams.
• Participates in budget planning and projections.
• Identifies potential issues and risks as well as technical/non-technical mitigation strategies.
• Prepares status reports as required.
• Performs other responsibilities and duties as required

Qualifications

Education: BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business or related discipline, or, equivalent experience in lieu of specific education. MSEE, MSCS, MBA preferred.

Experience:

• Ten or more years of experience in project management
• Five or more years experience in mixed-signal 8 or 16 bit microcontroller product design
• Three or more years experience in object oriented design and programming, web based business application design and development
• Experience leading J2EE/Linux/Unix-based technology projects desired.
• Must have experience with n-tier architectures and technical designs.
• PMPI or similar project management formal training; MS Project or other similar application experience
• Five or more years of progressive experience managing extremely skilled and creative staff
