TeleTracking Technologies Adds RTLS for Fully Automatic Patient Flow Automation

Industry leader acquires RadarFind's unique, RFID tracking technology

PITTSBURGH, P.A. and MORRISVILLE, N.C., Sept 22, 2009 -- Market leader TeleTracking Technologies, Inc.™ has acquired real time location system (RTLS) company RadarFind™ to deliver a truly automatic, enterprise-wide patient flow system to the U.S. hospital market.

"As the pioneer of patient flow automation our mission has been to continually improve upon our time-tested, proven approach to manage real-time patient flow actions which help clients provide more timely care and reduce wait times," said TeleTracking CEO Anthony Sanzo. ”Progressive new technologies, especially like those of RadarFind, now allow us to confidently incorporate RTLS for more precise tracking visibility of patients and beds on our enterprise-class platform called TeleTracking XT.”

To improve the numerous aspects of the complex patient flow continuum, hospitals need to discharge patients in a timely manner, turn over rooms more efficiently, move patients comfortably and safely, and place the patient in the most clinically appropriate bed. This requires accurate, real-time information. RadarFind provides an affordable, non-disruptive, enterprise-wide location sensor network to pinpoint patients, staff and expensive equipment. Combined with TeleTracking's flow automation software, RadarFind will greatly enhance the hospital tracking process.

“RadarFind was built for the hospital environment based on in-depth interviews with doctors, nurses and hospital administrators,” said Bobby Bahram, RadarFind co-founder. “The combined capabilities of the RadarFind system with TeleTracking’s flow automation software suite will further advance our mutual goal of delivering automated solutions that can simplify hospital practices to improve patient care,” said Bahram.

The patented RadarFind system includes active RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags designed for various mobile medical equipment, patients and staff. These tags communicate with reader devices that easily plug into electrical outlets, avoiding the installation disruption prevalent with other types of radio frequency tracking systems. The readers capture location and other sensor data, i.e., status, temperature, etc., and then send that information to a central computer server for complex processing and reporting.

"The value of tracking and managing costly assets with RTLS technology has already been shown to provide a significant cost savings for many hospitals," stated Sanzo, "Now, with the RadarFind technology, the added ability to automatically trigger patient flow transactions presents new performance capabilities while eliminating certain manual procedures. Transparently communicating information such as a bedded patient, a pending transfer or discharge, a patient's location, or the start and stop of bed turnover or patient transportation, is a truly unique way to cut unnecessary time out of the patient flow continuum."

With clients in virtually every major U.S. city, TeleTracking now can deliver unprecedented real-time location awareness capabilities to hospitals across the nation.

RadarFind's CTO, Steve Jackson, agrees. "We're excited about this opportunity to join TeleTracking, the hands down leader in patient flow automation. Our hospital-centric technology was designed to accurately track patients, staff and equipment, and to join the experts in patient flow automation is a great fit."

TeleTracking will quickly begin to develop integration points with the RadarFind technologies to create new turn-key solutions that leverage actionable intelligence from real-time location services.

Effective immediately, RadarFind will function as a wholly-owned subsidiary of TeleTracking and continue operating their manufacturing, implementation and customer support services from their Morrisville, North Carolina facility.
